Lagacherla, Rotibanda thanda villagers traumatised after attack: SC, ST Commission
Telangana SC and ST Commission chairman Bakki Venkataiah on Monday said the farmers of Lagacherla and Rotibanda Thanda were traumatised following the November 12 incidents and the aftermath.
SC, ST Commission Chairman Bakki Venkataiah is speaking to news reporters at Central Jail in Sangareddy on Monday after meeting Lagacherla farmers.
Sangareddy: Telangana SC and ST Commission chairman Bakki Venkataiah on Monday said the farmers of Lagacherla and Rotibanda Thanda were traumatised following the November 12 incidents and the aftermath. Accompanied by members, he visited the district jail in Sangareddy after talking to farmers at Lagacherla and Rotibanda Thanda in Vikarabad district on Monday.
Speaking to news reporters after talking to farmers of Lagacherla at the jail in Kandi on Monday, Venkataiah said the police attacked Lagacherla farmers citing the attack on Collector Prateek Jain. He said the police attacked the women, SCs, and STs, and other community people indiscriminately taking the law into their own hands. Condemning the attack on the Collector, Venkataiah said the police can not attack innocent people either. The SC, ST Commission observed that several innocent people were put in jail.
Venkataiah said he had directed the Vikrabad Collector and SP to remove all the cases filed against the innocent and grant bail to them immediately. Saying that he sought a report from the Collector and SP on the entire episode, the SC, and ST Commission chairman said the commission would proceed following the law. Venkataiah said they would meet Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to request the government to look for alternative land acquisition since the poor farmers of Lagacherla and Rotibanda Thanda were dependent on earning a livelihood through agriculture.
