Hyderabad: Congress MLA T Jagga Reddy on Wednesday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government for the violence that claimed the lives of eight people, mostly farmers, at Lakhimpur Kheri when they were protesting against the farm laws.

“The BJP is resorting to politics in the name of religion,” he said, interacting with media persons here. Taking exception to the arrest of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra when she tried to visit Lakhimpur Kheri, he demanded her immediate release. “If the government fails to release Priyanka Gandhi, then Congress will organise a movement from Sangareddy demanding her release,” he said. he said the Central government was not responding to farmers protests against the farm laws for the last 200 days.

Jagga Reddy accused the BJP of indulging in hate politics in the country and alleged it was instigating people in the name of caste and religion.
