Hyderabad: Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy remembered former Olympian and Dhyan Chand awardee Syed Shahid Hakim who passed away recently.

A condolence meeting was arranged in the city on Sunday and the SATS chief recalled Hakim’s services to the sport of football. Hakim, son of late legendary football coach SS Rahim, passed away on August 22 in a private hospital in Gulbarga.

Hakim was 82 years old when he died. He was part of the Indian football team that competed in the 1960 Olympics.

Former footballers P Venkateshwar Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Rafiq Ali, Telangana Football Association secretary GP Palguna, Telangana Olympic Association secretary Jagdishwar Yadav, Prem Raj and Prof K Ranga Rao participated.
