Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the complete breakdown of law and order in Telangana under the Congress government. He held Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, responsible for failing miserably to ensure law and order and public safety in Telangana.

He demanded that the Congress government stop misusing the entire police force against the opposition and instead focus on strengthening policing and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

In a statement, Rama Rao raised concerns over a series of ghastly crimes across the state and accused the government of diverting the police machinery towards political vendetta instead of public safety. He said the wife of retired DG-rank IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Rai was murdered in a high-security residential area of Prashasan Nagar, while in a separate incident, a young man was stabbed to death on a public road in Secunderabad.

The developments came to light even as a BRS delegation was meeting DGP CV Anand to submit a representation raising concerns over deteriorating public safety.

“When the entire police machinery and intelligence network are being diverted towards filing false cases against BRS leaders, activists and social media activists, arresting and harassing them, a collapse in law and order becomes inevitable,” Rama Rao said.

He also pointed to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, which indicated a sharp rise in crimes against women and cybercrimes in Telangana.
