Lawyer couple murder: Police recover sickles from Sundilla barrage
Six-member team of sea divers from Vishakapatnam were engaged to carry out the search operation in Sundalla barrage waters and found two sickles near 54th gate
Peddapalli: The police retrieved two sickles from Sundilla barrage which were used for the murder of advocate couple Gattu Vamana Rao and PV Nagamani near Kalvacherala on February 17. They have been searching for the sickles in the Sundilla reservoir for the last two days after the accused claimed to have dropped the weapons in the water before fleeing to Maharashtra.
As part of the investigation, the police on Sunday took the accused Kunta Srinivas and S Chiranjeevi to the barrage and carried out searching operations between the flood gates no 45 and 60, but in vain.
On Monday, the accused were taken to the project site again and search operation was carried out between gates no 54 and 60. The police later found two sickles near 54th gate.
A six-member team of sea divers from Vishakapatnam were engaged to carry out the search operation in Sundalla barrage waters. On the other hand, Ramagundam commissionerate police have provided gunmen to Vamana Rao’s father Kishan Rao and brother Indra Shekhar Rao. In the wake of demand from various quarters including political parties, police have provided one-plus-one security to Kishan Rao and Indra Shekhar Rao.
In a statement, police informed that though they have decided to provide security to Manthani former sarpanch Enumula Sathish based on his request, the later was not available to avail the facility. After the murder of the lawyer couple, Sathish had sought the police protection stating that he was the next target of the accused.
The police have decided to continue police picketing and patrolling in Gunjapadugu village to avert any untoward incident.
