Adilabad: Former Minister Jogu Ramanna said that leaders of both the Congress and BJP parties were making false statements about farmers and they do not care about farmers’ issues. He was speaking at a meeting of cadres of the BRS conducted at Yapalguda village in Adilabad Rural mandal on Friday.
Ramanna advised the public to question the leaders of the Congress and BJP for ignoring problems of the farmers. He stated that even though the CCI was under jurisdiction of the Centre, local MP MLA Payala Shankar is completely failing to pay attention to address issues of cotton farmers of the district.
The BRS district president found fault with the local BJP leaders for not talking about the procurement of cotton, which was much better in terms of quality standards in India, raising many doubts. He said that the BJP was cheating by not providing MSP to cotton farmers on par with farmers of Gujarat.
He questioned why the Congress government was unable to extend crop loan waiver, Rythu Bandhu and Ryhu Bheema to the farmers in a full-fledged manner.
Ramanna stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wrote to the Prime Minister saying that the crop loans were completely waived off. But, 50 percent of the loans were not waived, prompting the farmers to take to the roads and protests. He demanded the government to fulfill its poll promises.
He noted that the party’s working president KT Rama Rao would tour the district to attend a meeting in support of the farmers on October 24. He requested the cadres to make the event successful.
