Hyderabad: Artificial Intelligence has become increasingly prevalent in our day-to-day lives, so do jobs related to AI. One of the highest paying fields of AI is Machine Learning, which focuses on data and algorithms to enable machines to learn a task with minimal human intervention.
Originally coined by a researcher at IBM, Arthur Samuel, after an online checkers game, Machine Learning deals with how machines can learn and understand human tasks. The machines can learn more data and continually adapt and grow smarter to help perform tasks and understand human behaviour. Although, it’s not a new science, the technology that’s available to us today has allowed it to gain a huge momentum and be applied in many everyday uses.
Things like self-driving cars, show recommendations on OTT platforms, fraud detection, speech recognition and online customer service chat boxes – all are examples of how this field of study has inserted itself into the fiber of our everyday lives.
If you’re excited about data, automation, and algorithms, Machine Learning is the right career move for you. Your days will be filled with moving large amounts of raw data, implementing algorithms to process that data, and then automating the process for optimisation. Interestingly, there are various career paths one can choose to take within the industry. With a right background in the area, you can get a high-paying job as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, NLP Scientist, Business Intelligence Developer, Computational Linguist, or a Human-Centered Machine Learning Designer. With very few experts in the field presently, good talent with Machine Learning skills are in high demand in the job market.
As several opportunities are available for those with specific skills, many universities and education institutions have included Machine Learning in their curriculam. Many certificate, diploma, undergraduate and post-graduate level courses are available for students who have cleared 10+2 board exams or have completed graduation from a recognised university in math, data science, computer science, computer programming, statistics, or physics.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) also included Machine Learning in their undergraduate and postgraduate curricula from the academic year 2021-22.
List of some of the colleges offering courses in Machine Learning:
- Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad
- IIT Kharagpur
- Vellore Institute of Technology
- Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology
- Dehradun Institute of Technology
