Left parties leaders taken into custody, denied permission to visit Lagacharla
Many leaders, including CPI ML Parigi Division Secretary Mallesh, Agricultural Workers association district president Venkatesh and others taken into custody
Vikarabad: A few leaders of Left parties’ from the district and other places have been taken into custody by the police and denied permission from visiting Lagacherla and speak to the aggrieved families in the village.
The CPM and Left parties had given a call to visit Lagacherla on Thursday. The aim was to conduct a fact finding study over the November 12 incident when the situation went out of control and Vikarabad Collector Prateek Jain and KADA Special Officer Venkat Reddy were attacked.
Accordingly, many left parties were planning to visit Lagacherla on Thursday but the police prevented them heading towards the village. Many leaders, including CPI ML Parigi Division Secretary Mallesh, Agricultural Workers association district president Venkatesh and others have been taken into custody.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, Women organisations JAC members were denied permission from visiting Lagacherla and Rotibanda thanda for a fact finding study and interaction with tribal farmers. Meanwhile, a delegation of leaders from the CPM State unit has started off from Hyderabad to Lagacherla.
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for undemocratic restrictions being imposed in Lagacherla and neighbouring villages, CPM State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram reminded that the Chief Minister had announced a seventh guarantee in addition to Congress party’s Six Guarantees.
He had assured that democracy would be restored in the State and people would be permitted to stage protests in a democratic way. Accordingly, the barricades at Jyothiba Phule Praja Bhavan were removed and save for this action, undemocratic governance was continuing in the State, he slammed while speaking to media persons before leaving for Lagacherla.
Be it HYDRAA, Musi demolitions, Group-I examinations or feeling of Damagundem forests, there was stiff opposition from people from all sections. Continuing the dictatorial governance, the Lagacherla farmers and villagers were being assaulted and placed under illegal arrests as they were opposing parting lands for pharma village in the area, he said.
Already, 13,000 acres has been acquired at Ibrahimpatnam for Pharma City. Why was the Congress government trying to acquire lands in different areas for pharma villages? The lands acquired for pharma city were being handed over to private companies, the CPM State Secretary said.
“At Lagcharla, there are no men. Many have been arrested illegally and CPM opposes the Chief Minister’s unilateral decisions and undemocratic governance,” Veerabhadram said.
