Rajanna Sircilla: A leopard accidentally fell into an open agriculture well in the outskirts of Malkapur of Boinpalli mandal on Wednesday. Local forest officials have sought the help of a rescue team from Hyderabad to rescue the animal since they don’t have the proper equitment to bring the leopard up.

Forest officials said the wild animal moved to the outskirts of the village from the nearby hillocks and accidentally fell into the well. It was first noticed by farm owner Korepu Suresh at around 11 am, and he immediately informed the police and forest officials.

Sircilla district forest officer Srinivas and Boinpalli Sub-Inspector Srinivas rushed to the spot along with their staff and began rescue operations to bring the wild animal out, but their efforts went in vain. Subsequently, they requisitioned the help of a rescue team from Hyderabad and a cage is being brought from Mancherial.

Forest officials said they had prepared a long ladder to get into the well to sedate the leopard. Once the cage is made available, an expert will get into the well and sedate the big cat.

A large number of locals rushed to the well to catch a glimpse of the leopard.
