Nirmal: The movement of a leopard created a flutter in several parts of Kadem mandal on Wednesday. The big cat killed a sheep on the left bank canal of Kadem Narayana Project and dragged it into the forest on Tuesday.
Sources said the carnivore from the forests of Kadem was moving in the fringes as also interior parts in search of prey and water. The wild animal sometimes resorts to attacking sheep and cattle while they are grazing in the forests. The foresters are tracking the movement of the leopard and are taking steps to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.
It may be recalled that the sighting of a leopard triggered panic among the villagers of Jangaon in Kubheer mandal recently. It killed a wild boar in an agriculture field on the outskirts of the village. Shepherds and farmers are scared a lot and the residents have requested Forest officials to take steps to prevent the killings of cattle.
