Movement of a leopard created panic among villagers in Somagudam and Dubbagudem in Mancherial district. After spotting pugmarks, residents alerted forest officials, who began tracking the animal and advised farmers to take safety precautions while working in fields.

Mancherial: Movement of a leopard sparked panic among villagers in Somagudam and Dubbagudem villages in Kasipet mandal on Thursday.
Villagers said they noticed pugmarks on the outskirts of the two villages and urged Forest officials to take immediate steps to track the leopard’s movement and prevent any human casualties. They said they were hesitant to carry out farm activities following the movement of the wild animal in the area.
Forest officials said steps had been taken to track the leopard and avert human loss. They said staff had been deployed to monitor the movement of the animal and pointed out that the forests of Kasipet mandal are inhabited by several leopards. Farmers were advised to move in groups and make noise while harvesting cotton and other crops, and while tilling fields.
