Narayanpet: A leopard scare has gripped a few villages in Damaragidda mandal in the district. After a leopard attacked and killed a goat in Bapanpally village, villagers are scared to visit their fields since Saturday.
A shepherd alerted the villagers about the leopard killing a goat. Accordingly villagers of Bapanpally, Kyatanpally, Vattugundla and Kamsanpally are scared to step out in the night. They complained to the forest officials, who immediately set up a cage to trap the leopard.
Based on a complaint, a team inspected the village and found pug marks and scat of a leopard. The region, which was on the Karnataka border, was replete with hillocks and leopards were found moving in the area in the past, said a forest official.
A leopard was trapped in a neighbouring village three months ago and all measures were being taken to trap the leopard that was on the prowl now, the official added.
