Life imprisonment for man in Peddapalli minor girl rape case
A Fast Track Special Court in Peddapalli sentenced S Ramesh to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Upparapalli, Odela mandal, in 2022. Judge K Sunitha also imposed a Rs 21,000 fine and directed Rs 5 lakh compensation to the victim

Peddapalli: The Fast Track Special Judge Court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to S Ramesh for raping a minor girl. Judge K Sunitha also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide Rs 5 lakh compensation to the victim.
According to the police, the minor girl had gone to her grandparents’ home in Upparapalli of Odela mandal for summer holidays in 2022. While her grandparents were away attending MNREGS job works, the girl was playing with the sons of the accused. Taking advantage of the situation, Ramesh lured the girl into his house with the offer of food and raped her. When she developed severe bleeding, he sent her home and fled.
The victim narrated the incident to her grandparents when they returned from work. Based on a complaint, Potkapally police registered a case and produced the accused in court. After examining the evidence and witnesses, the judge sentenced Ramesh to life imprisonment. Besides the sentence, a fine of Rs 21,000 was also imposed.
