Adilabad: Four people were killed in three separate incidents of lightning in different parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district on Saturday.
In the first incident, a 45-year old farmer and his wife were killed after being struck by lightning in their agriculture field at Burkapalli village in Bazarhathnoor mandal. The deceased were identified as Baniya Garan Singh and his wife Ashabai.
While Garan Singh died on the spot, Ashabai died while being shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad. In the second incident, Rathod Deepali (15), a migrant labourer died on the spot and her relative Rathod Bagu sustained injuries after being struck by lightning when they were engaged in agriculture work at Bandalnagapur village in Thamsi mandal. M Ganapathi (35), a tribal farmer, lost his life to the lightning at Ooda Mamada village in Jainoor mandal. As many as 15 sheep died due to the lightning at Sanghvi (K) village in Jainath mandal.
It may be recalled that on September 20, Ande Mounika (28) and her one-year-old son died on the spot, while her husband sustained injuries after being struck by lightning in Mancherial district headquarters. A woman, her daughter and an elderly farmer were killed after being struck by lightning when they were returning from their agriculture fields on the outskirts of Kaniki village in Koutala mandal on September 3.
