Lightning kills fisherman, son in Jagitial

Residents of Dharmapuri temple town, Baki Rajanarsu (58) and his son Mahender (30) were struck by lightning while they were arranging nets to hunt fish in Godavari river

Jagitial: Two fishermen from the same family died of lightning in Thimmapur of Dharmapuri mandal on Saturday evening.

Residents of Dharmapuri temple town, Baki Rajanarsu (58) and his son Mahender (30) were struck by lightning while they were arranging nets to hunt fish at Devathulamadugu in Godavari river, in the backwaters of Yellampalli reservoir.


According to other fishermen, the duo died on the spot when they were hit by lightning. While the body of Rajanarsu was stuck in the fishing net, Mahender’s body went missing in the river.
Knowing about the incident, police rushed to the spot and began a search operation for Mahender.
