Lil Star Hyderabad: For parents, choosing a snack for a baby can often mean navigating long ingredient lists and unfamiliar names. Hyderabad-based Lil Star is taking a simpler approach, offering baby snacks made with familiar ingredients in playful formats, with a focus on transparent labels and everyday snacking.

The idea for Lil Star came from founder Namrata Singhania’s experience as a toddler teacher. It took shape when she came across a baby snack label with ingredients she found difficult to understand.

“I was always around children. I loved playing with them and creating new experiences with them. I wanted to create some snacks that parents can see the label and ingredient list and easily understand what they’re giving their child,” said Namrata. She wanted to use familiar foods that children have grown up eating, but present them in easier and more engaging forms.

This approach is reflected in the brand’s choice of ingredients. Lil Star products are made without oil, added sugar, preservatives, maida or artificial flavours. The brand also emphasises familiar ingredients and avoids what it sees as unnecessary over-engineering of baby food.

“We just don’t need to over engineer your baby food. We use familiar ingredients and turn them into playful formats that children can enjoy, we do not want parents to feel they need to search for a superfood or super grain for every snack,” said Namrata.

Lil Star’s current range includes Power Puffs, grain-based snacks available in flavours such as banana, blueberry and apple cinnamon, and FoYo Melts, made with fruit and yoghurt and available in combinations including strawberry banana, blueberry and mango. Power Puffs are priced at ₹378 for a pack of two, while FoYo Melts cost ₹449 for a pack of two.

The initial range is designed for little ones from around eight months onwards, depending on the product and the child’s developmental readiness. “We also believe that parents should consider their child’s developmental readiness, not just the number on the pack,” said Namrata. The brand is also exploring snacks for babies under eight months, including purees, along with more teething-friendly formats for growing toddlers.

Lil Star is positioning itself around a simpler approach to children’s snacking. “We are not creating a Me Too product. We are creating something that’s different and addresses a need in the market of having simpler snacks for kids that are not over engineered and complicated,” said Namrata.

As Lil Star expands its range, the brand plans to retain its focus on familiar ingredients, thoughtful formats and snacks that fit naturally into a child’s day, while making the experience simpler for parents.
