The third-seeded Inter Miami dominated sixth-seeded Nashville, outscoring them 8-3 across the three games. Messi was directly involved in every single goal, scoring five and assisting on three. The Road Ahead: FC Cincinnati
Inter Miami will now face FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference semifinals, set for Nov. 22 or Nov. 23. Cincinnati, who finished top of the Eastern Conference this season, holds a 1-0-1 advantage over Inter Miami in their regular-season meetings. Cincinnati won 3-0 at home in July, while the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Fort Lauderdale. Messi played in the first match but missed the second encounter.
“We know Cincinnati will be a tough test,” said Jordi Alba, Inter Miami’s veteran defender, who made his 100th appearance for the club in the win over Nashville. “But we’re ready for the challenge.”
