Hyderabad’s restaurateur Preethi Reddy excels not only in managing Sherlock’s Lounge but also in balancing her career with home

Hyderabad: After working in national and multinational companies spread across Europe and South East Asia, and handling human resources as the Asia-Pacific head for a construction company, Preethi Reddy wanted to return to India and connect back to her roots in her hometown – Hyderabad.
Now, Preethi has added a new feather to her cap by starting a new restaurant, Sherlock’s – Lounge and Kitchen.
“I always wanted to have my own identity and, at the same time, give employment at least for a few, which inspired me to start Sherlock’s Lounge and Restaurant. Being a woman, starting a lounge which serves liquor was a big thing. People criticised me in the beginning and it took me some time to overcome all the stereotypical judgements. Well, I should really thank my husband for standing by me throughout and helping me launch my dream project,” shares Preethi, who worked with in the corporate sector for over 14 years now.
Preethi excels not only in managing the lounge but also in training her staff in the restaurant. “I did a bartender course abroad and that became really useful for me to train my staff. I also hire people who don’t come from the hospitality industry background and train them so they can find employment wherever they go,” says the mother of one.
While the young restaurateur was busy juggling between her business and home, her friend who was back from the US enrolled her name for Mrs India 2021. The news surely landed as a surprise to Preethi. “I was completely blank and it was a bit challenging to manage business and get into a pageant. I should really thank my family who supported me. I was in happy tears when I was chosen as a runner up for Mrs India 2021,” shares a proud Preethi.
In addition, she has also recently received Naari Shakti Women icon Award 2021, Indian Achievers Award, and South India Business Award.
