Karimnagar: The floodgates of the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) were once again lifted on Wednesday to discharge water downstream. Around 4,000 cusecs of water is being released by opening two spillway gates.
The dam is receiving steady inflows from the Mid Manair Reservoir and the Moyathummeda rivulet following continuous rainfall in the upper catchment areas, causing water levels in the reservoir to reach full capacity.
To regulate storage levels, LMD officials lifted two gates to release water downstream and said more gates would be opened if inflows increased. They appealed to people, shepherds, fishermen and farmers to avoid crossing the river as a precautionary measure.
