Farmer Ratla Bikshapathi attempted suicide at Makkarajupet in Chegunta mandal on Friday night.
Medak: Fed up with days of waiting at the paddy procurement centre, a farmer Ratla Bikshapathi (48) attempted suicide at Makkarajupet in Chegunta mandal on Friday night. The farmer, a resident of Salkoni Cheruvu Thanda, had shifted his produce to the centre and was waiting for days.
While his serial number was put at 115, the paddy procurement up to 88 was completed by Friday evening. Since there was no sign of getting his number soon, the farmer reportedly consumed poisonous granules used in paddy farming.
After finding him unconscious at his paddy heap, other farmers rushed him to a local hospital. His condition is said to be critical.
Local Tahsildar and SI reached the spot and launched an investigation. The incident left the farmers at the procurement centre in a state of shock.
