Kothagudem: The ‘Pattabhishekam’ (Coronation) ceremony of Lord Rama was performed in a majestic manner at the historical Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple here on Monday. The event took place at the colourfully decorated Mithila Stadium on the temple premises. The priests brought festival deities from the main temple to the mandapam amid chanting of vedic mantras and performed the coronation ceremony as per the temple’s traditions.

The ceremony was performed by chief priest Amaravadi Vasudevan, priests Seetharamanuja Charyulu and others. Lord Rama was adorned with ornaments like Chintaku Patakam, sword, golden umbrella and golden ‘padukalu’ marking the occasion. Lord Anjaneya was adorned with a necklace of pearls. Prior to the ceremony the priests conducted a special pujas in the main temple. KE Sthalasai narrated the event in full detail to the devotees and explained the significance of the coronation ceremony of Lord Rama.

Governor Tamilasai Soundararajan attended ‘Maha Pattabhishekam’ along with her family members and presented ‘Pattu vastrams’ to the presiding deity. She had darshan of the presiding deities at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and offered special prayers. Later speaking to the media the Governor said it was a divine experience to witness the Lord Rama Pattabhishekam and happy to take part in the coronation ceremony. She informed that she prayed to Lord Rama that Covid should go away from the country and world once and for all and for the wellbeing of all and the all-round prosperity and development of the State and the nation.

She appealed to the public to receive Covid vaccine and motivate children to take the vaccine shot. It was because the vaccine made available for people Covid intensity came down and people were able to celebrate events like Lord Rama Pattabhishekam, she said. The Governor reached Kothagudem by Secunderabad – Manugur Superfast Express train. She was welcomed by Additional Collector K Venkateshwarlu, RDO Swarnalatha and SCCL Director (Finance) N Balram at Kothagudem railway station.
