Lord Shiva temples packed with devotees in Telangana’s Adilabad

Local voluntary organisations, philanthropists organise programmes to feed the poor on the surroundings of the temples

Adilabad: Famed abodes of Lord Shiva brimmed with devotees on the occasion of the auspicious Maha Shivaratri festival celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across erstwhile Adilabad district on Wednesday.

In Adilabad district, devotees made a beeline to the ancient Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in the centre of an irrigation tank at Sirichelma village in Echoda mandal from early morning till midnight. They visited the ancient cave temple Sri Someswara Swamy Alayam at the famous Kuntala Waterfalls in Neradigonda mandal by climbing a ladder. Devotees thronged shrines of Lord Shiva in the district centre and performed special prayers to mark the festival.


In Mancherial, Sri Bugga Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devestanam of Kannala village in Bellampalli mandal, Sri Gattu Mallikarjuna Swamy temple of Velala village in Jaipur mandal and Sri Amba Agastheswara Swamy temple in Chennur town, Sri Gouthameshwara Swamy temple situated on the shores of Godavari river and and Sri Vishwanatha Swamy temple in Mancherial town saw a heavy influx of devotees.

Meanwhile, the historic and scenic Sri Papahareshwara Swamy temple of Kadili in Nirmal district and Sri Sivamallanna Swamy temple of Easgoan in Kaghaznagar mandal, Sri Shivakeshavalayam of Wankhidi mandal centre, Sri Bhadarakali temple in Penchikalpet mandal, Sri Rangadameshwara Swamy temple of Bejjur mandal headquarters in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district saw huge influx of devotees.

Local voluntary organisations and philanthropists organised programmes to feed the poor on the surroundings of these temples. They provided buttermilk and mineral water to the visitors. Security was stepped up at the temples to prevent untoward incidents. TGSRTC operated special buses for devotees.
