Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A candidate who was defeated in the gram panchayat polls has been booked by the police for assaulting his opponent’s husband with a sickle at Itikalapahad village in Sirpur (T) mandal on Monday.
Police said that a case was registered against Morle Bheemrao, an independent candidate, for attempting to attack Vadai Posetti, the husband of Thanubai, who had won the election with the support of the BJP. Investigations have been taken up.
Bheemrao allegedly tried to assault Posetti as he was unable to bear the defeat in the elections. He was reportedly upset after Posetti also failed to fulfil his promise to give him money after the polls. However, he was prevented by some onlookers, who subdued him and tied him to a pole. He was then handed over to the police for further action. Though there were reports that he was supported by the Congress, the police denied the same.
