Loyola Academy conference explores multi-disciplinary pathways to sustainability

The second day of Loyola Academy’s Eco-Futurism conference in Hyderabad brought together experts to discuss sustainable behaviour, food systems, traditional irrigation, eco-cinema and climate action. The event also featured student activities including poetry, photography, diplomacy simulation and poster making

Hyderabad: The second day of SYN Humanities – International Conference on ‘Eco-Futurism: Multi-Disciplinary Pathways to Sustainability’, organised by the School of Arts and Humanities, Loyola Academy Degree & PG College (Autonomous), brought together diverse perspectives on environmental sustainability and the future.

The sessions featured experts from various fields. Prof. Subhasis Bhadra of NIMHANS, Bengaluru, spoke on psychological barriers to and enablers of sustainable behaviour. Dr Aparajita Sengupta, co-founder of Smell of the Earth, addressed localism and future-ready food systems, while Prof. Gajalakshmi of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Pondicherry University, explored traditional irrigation practices and their relevance to food security.

Sanjay Khimesara, Head of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (ASIFA), discussed eco-cinema, digital storytelling and environmental visual culture. A roundtable with Prof. Scott Stoneman further examined ways to catalyse climate action through social media.

The conference, organised in collaboration with WWF-India and sponsored by Millet Chef, also featured student events, including Slam Poetry, Photography, Diplomatic Simulation and Poster Making.
