Adilabad: The Land Regularisation Scheme evoked a huge response with nearly one lakh persons applying for regularisation of their assets and layouts across municipalities in erstwhile Adilabad district.

The government announced a scheme for regularising illegal house sites and layouts which were registered till August 26, setting a deadline of October 15. It had extended the last date to October 31, considering requests from citizens. It fixed the fee of Rs 1,000 for enrolling names of individuals and Rs 10,000 for developers.

According to information provided by authorities of municipalities, Mancherial district’s seven municipalities saw 35,352 applications seeking regularisation of lands by the end of the last date for registering names. The Mancherial civic body accounted for 26,247 applications till October 31, which was the deadline for enrolling names to regularise properties developed in illegal layouts.

Newly created Kyathanpalli and Naspur municipalities stood in the second and third spots by recording 7,800 and 5,469 applications. Luxettipet civic body had 2,200 applications, while 1,276 applications were received by the authorities of Chennur municipality. Bellampalli and Mandamarri spotted in the bottom by registering the lowest applications of 150 and 10 each respectively.

“The buyers of the assets can easily get permission for constructing homes if they regularise the sites. The scheme is a golden opportunity given by the government. Taking the merits of the scheme into consideration, many came forward to utilise the opportunity. Guidelines for regularilsing the sites and layouts will be released shortly,” an official of Mancherial municipality said.
