Mahabubabad: Four South Central Railway (SCR) employees had a lucky escape as a fire broke out in a stationary train coach at Kesamudram railway station in the district during mid-night hours on Thursday.

A support coach set up for the rest of the railway track machine staff was halted at the railway station and four employees were sleeping in it when the coach caught fire. The alert employees opened the doors of the coach and jumped off to save their lives.

Firefighters reached the station and brought the fire into control. But the train was fully damaged by the fire. An electrical short circuit was suspected to be the reason for the accident and the railway officials launched a probe into the incident.
