Lulu Group Chairman MA Yousuf Ali helps stranded Hyderabadi return from Saudi Arabia
After months of hardship in Saudi Arabia, bedridden Hyderabadi Mohammed Abdul Aleem returned home with the help of Lulu Group Chairman M.A. Yousuf Ali, who cleared his outstanding dues and coordinated his repatriation following support from Malayali social workers.
Jeddah: All hope was lost for Mohammed Abdul Aleem, unable to move and bedridden, just staring at the ceiling and walls in despair every day for months in a shelter house.
Each passing day hope is fading that he ever returns to his home in Hyderabad, destitute 55-year-old from Chandrayanagutta until Indian businessman MA Yusuf Ali saved.
Everything was fine in the life of Aleem, who was an experienced salesman with over 15 years in the Saudi market and was leading a comfortable life, he had purchased a new car on instalments. However, he had to travel home abruptly owing to his wife’s sudden ailment subsequently she succumbed.
Devastated with wife death and family issues, Covid pandemic, Aleem did not return to Saudi Arabia and meanwhile nonpayment of car loan cumulated.
After a couple years, Aleem came to Saudi Arabia to begin a fresh life. He was doing odd jobs to survive and repay loans. However, he experienced continuous setbacks, starting from financial stress to losing valuables, loan default, travel ban and other compounding issues impacted his health, and he was paralysed and admitted in a hospital in Jeddah.
Aleem’s siblings ran from pillar to post for help. Mohammed Layeq, a Hyderabadi social worker visited him in the hospital and since it involved a considerable amount of settlement he and other Hyderabadis stepped back. A plea for help to Aleem went in vain as the community did not evince any interest either.
Aleem was discharged from the hospital and there is none to care for him, the service-oriented Malayali community as does always come forward. Shameer Nadwi, a Malayali social worker, has contacted Dar Hakm, a charity organisation that sheltered Aleem for nearly eight months.
The Malayali community amplified efforts to help Aleem and repatriate him back, when the news reached Lulu Group Chairman MA Yousuf Ali, he settled all outstanding amounts on behalf of Aleem and cleared the path for his return.
Yousuf Ali went above and beyond to repatriate Aleem, he dispatched his office team to coordinate with all concerned and the Indian consulate.
After a long excruciating wait, Aleem, on wheelchair, was repatriated to Hyderabad and reached on Wednesday, and he was accompanied by Shameer Nadwi.
