LV Prasad Eye Institute inaugurates exclusive glaucoma institute in Hyderabad
LV Prasad Eye Institute has inaugurated the Kalathur Venugopal Reddy Glaucoma Institute at its Banjara Hills campus in Hyderabad to advance specialised care, education and research in glaucoma under the leadership of Dr Sirisha Senthil.
Hyderabad: LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) on Friday inaugurated its exclusive glaucoma facility at its Banjara Hills campus in Hyderabad.
Dr Sirisha Senthil, who recently was elected to the Chair of the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis (AOI), will head the Kalathur Venugopal Reddy Glaucoma Institute. The glaucoma institute will advance cutting-edge care, education, and research in glaucoma, a press release said.
The hospital management said that the glaucoma facility is part of an overall initiative of creating ‘Institutes of Excellence and Global Resource Centres’ dealing with various major eye conditions.
Mallika Reddy Kalathur, wife of late entrepreneur Kalathur Venugopal Reddy, inaugurated the institute in the presence of family members. According to LVPEI, the late Venugopal Reddy lived with glaucoma and ultimately experienced the loss of sight associated with the disease.
