Hyderabad: “Should we live on freebies, offerings and help from others or should we lead life self-sufficiently with good work with all lights and action?” The latest tweet of Prakash Raj reads.
As the elections for Movie Artsites’ Association inch closer, the actor appealed to the movie artistes to cautiously elect their panel which could work for all-round development. “Step, thought, practice… for “MAA”, for the welfare of MAA member,” he further mentioned in his tweet.
Addressing his fellow artistes in the film industry, Prakash Raj posed a question to his opponents whether they’re treating everyone equal.
“Are we really reaching out to poor artistes? Just recently, someone asked me as to why I have been meeting every artiste and bigwig in the industry just ahead of MAA elections while I had kept distance from attending events and meeting Telugu actors previously. Because, I’ve shouldered a greater cause now. I would have spend time eating kebabs in my farm house, or spending holiday vacation with my children in foreign country. But I kept them aside, because now, I’ve stepped to meet movie artistes and call everyone to strengthen MAA,” he added.

Reiterating that the movie association is not a charity organisation, Prakash Raj stressed the need for strengthening it from within.
“An artiste who is a member of MAA association wouldn’t beg for movie roles any further, if panel elected to power, four co-ordinators would be constituted to oversee the issues pertaining to their employment and movie offers,” he said.
Not a mere coverage of health insurance, five hospitals would sign a memorandum with MAA soon after getting elected to power, said Prakash Raj.
Contestants should be ashamed of making false promises during the elections, Prakash Raj continued, “What’s the value of obtaining a association card in the pocket, when it doesn’t serve the purpose. It should be credit card not a visiting card. Artiste should derive benefit out of the MAA membership.”
With two contestants – Bandla Ganesh and CVL Narasimha Rao dropping midway by withdrawing their nominations from the polls, the fight is now open between Manchu Vishnu and Prakash Raj who are vying for the MAA president’s post.
Elections are due to be held on October 10.
