Maganti Sunitha named BRS candidate for Jubilee Hills bypoll
BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao announced Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, as the party’s candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. Party leaders said her candidature honours Gopinath’s legacy and seeks to strengthen the party base.

Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday announced Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. The bypoll was necessitated following the death of Gopinath.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao said the decision was taken in recognition of Gopinath’s services to the party and people, and in response to the aspirations of Jubilee Hills voters. Despite having numerous contenders, the decision was taken to honour Gopinath’s work and public support. Sunitha, wife of the late legislator, has been actively involved in party programmes and earned respect of the party cadre. Party leadership said her candidature reflects both continuity and gratitude towards Gopinath’s contributions.
Chandrashekhar Rao took the decision after chairing a meeting with the party senior leaders, including party working president KT Rama Rao, senior leaders T Harish Rao, Mohammed Mahmood Ali, P Sabitha Indra Reddy and T Padma Rao Goud. He also spoke to Sanatnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Rao over phone.
BRS leaders expressed confidence that Sunitha would carry forward her husband’s legacy and win the bypoll to strengthen the party’s base in the constituency.
Responding to the party’s decision, Sunitha thanked Chandrashekhar Rao, Rama Rao and all the senior leaders for giving her an opportunity to contest the by-election. She vowed to strive hard to win the election and sought blessings of the voters.
