Hyderabad: On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, a sand sculpture of Lord Shiva with installation of 23,436 rudraksha beads is winning hearts of several netizens today.
Created by renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, the sand sculpture on Puri beach in Odisha is around 9ft high and 18ft wide. The installation which shows lord shiva in a peaceful avatar also shares a message saying, “We pray for Peace” – as there is a war going on in between Russia and Ukraine.
For the installation, it is said that Pattnaik used about 12 tonnes of sand and took around six hours to complete the sculpture. The amalgamation of sand and rudraksha just give a very different and serene look to the sculpture, a few netizens noted. Several Twitter users also replied saying “Har Har Mahadev” to Sudarsan’s post.
However, this is not the first time that Pattnaik has tried something new with his installations. The sand artist has earlier even used vegetables, red roses and so on for the sculptures.
So far, the Padma Shri awardee has participated in more than 60 international sand sculpture competitions and festivals around the world and won many prizes for the country.
