Mahabubabad: The officials of Medical and Health department, staff of Mahabubabad district hospital and officials of other departments said they were ready for a surge in Covid-19 cases as the Omicron variant was spreading at a rapid pace.
District Collector K Shashanka, who held a meeting with the superintendent of the hospital and other officials on Monday, directed them to be ready to face any situation arising out of the possible spurt in the Covid-19 cases in the district.
“We have already increased the number of the beds from 100 to 180 at the Area hospital which was upgraded as the district hospital. The bed strength will be increased further up to 250. On the other hand, facilities and medical infrastructure are being improved at the hospital,” he said adding that construction of oxygen plant had also been taken up besides providing oxygen to the needed patients.
Moreover, the construction works on the government medical college on Thorrur road are being done at brisk pace, he added.
