Mahabubnagar: Mahabubnagar Municipal Council approved Rs.141.28 crore budget for the 2022-23 financial year on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud declared that Mahabubnagar municipality would be upgraded as Municipal Corporation shortly and this would aid in getting national and international funds for taking up different projects.
He wanted the elected public representatives and officials to focus on addressing public grievances. The Minister said foot over bridges was being proposed at Bus stand, Government General Hospital, SVS Hospital and KCR Eco Park with a cost of Rs.18 crore.
A Necklace Road would also be constructed around mini Tank Bund in the town with a cost of Rs.24 crore. Government orders to this effect would be issued before the Assembly session, he said.
“A 1000-bedded super speciality hospital will be constructed on the old Collector office premises with a cost of Rs.300 crore. Efforts will be made to transform Mahabubnagar into a medical tourism hub,” said V Srinivas Goud.
Once the Karivena and Uddhandapur reservoirs construction is completed, plans would be made to launch water sports and promote tourism projects in the region, he said.
Welcoming the State government’s order to declare Mahabubnagar Urban Development Authority covering Mahabubnagar, Bhootpur and Jadcherla, the Minister said this would pave way for planned growth and development of Mahabubnagar and its suburbs.
“Airport is coming up at Manyamkonda and plans are afoot for expansion of neighbouring villages,” said V Srinivas Goud, adding the proposed Shilparamam in the town, would be developed on par with the one in Hyderabad.
