Mahabubnagar: Farmers are up in arms against the Jadcherla police for allegedly assaulting a farmer who demanded compensation for his land acquired for the construction of the Uddandapur reservoir.
Narsimhulu, a farmer from Uddandapur village, had parted with 1.5 acres of land under Survey No. 133/A for the reservoir’s construction. However, he complained that he had not received compensation for the half acre land and that the amount had been deposited into another person’s bank account.
Despite raising the issue with Revenue officials, his grievance remained unresolved. With compensation still pending, Narsimhulu reportedly decided to cultivate the land to earn his livelihood.
However, a private construction company, involved in construction works alerted the local police, who arrived at the spot and confronted the farmer. Videos purportedly showing police personnel dragging Narsimhulu by his collar and verbally abusing him have since been circulating on social media platforms.
The incident has triggered outrage among farmers, who condemned the alleged high-handedness of the police. They demanded stringent action against the personnel involved in the incident.
