Mahabubnagar: Despite the State government’s claims of curbing illegal sand mining, allegations of unauthorised sand transportation continue to surface in several parts of Telangana.
One such incident came to light in Makthal after former BRS MLA Chittem Rammohan Reddy intercepted four trucks and alerted the police about the alleged illegal transportation of sand.
On learning that a Congress leader from Maganoor mandal was allegedly transporting sand from the Adavi Satyaram stream without authorisation, Rammohan Reddy intercepted four tipper trucks at the Makthal-Narayanpet junction.
He immediately alerted the police and questioned the lack of monitoring and surveillance by the police. He alleged that instead of taking legal action against those involved in illegal sand transportation, officials were turning a blind eye to such activities.
