Hyderabad: Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test (TS EdCET) this year has undergone major changes in the question paper pattern.

Unlike earlier times when the aspirants wrote only a select subject, TS EdCET 2021 will have them answering questions from all the subjects.

This means in the subject/content section, candidates will have questions from Mathematics, Science and Social Studies subjects. Earlier, candidate had to choose any one of the subjects-Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Social Studies, English and Oriental Languages.

The total number of questions, duration of the test and marks has remained the same this year. However, number of questions in each section has been tweaked. A decision to this effect has been taken during first test committee meeting of TS EdCET 2021 held on Saturday.

According to new pattern, subject/content section will have 60 sections with 20 questions each from Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, drawn from classes 1 to 10 of the State syllabus with focus on reasoning and problem solving. Teaching aptitude and general English section will each have 20 questions. This time, aspirants will also be tested in educational issues and computer awareness. General knowledge and educational issues section will contain 30 questions, and 20 questions will be on the computer awareness.

Earlier, general English had 25 questions, general knowledge (15), teaching aptitude (10) and methodology (100).

According to officials, instead of ranking in each subject, this time there would be common ranking for candidates appearing for TS EdCET. During the admission counselling, candidates can choose a BEd course on the basis of the subjects studied in the under graduation.

The committee has also decided to propose changes to the eligibility criteria for the entrance test. A notification for the entrance test, expected to be held in August, will be issued on March 20 and online applications will be accepted from March 24 to May 5.

The meeting was attended by Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman Prof. T Papi Reddy, Osmania University Registrar Prof. Ch Gopal Reddy,TSCHE secretary M Srinivasa Rao, and TS-EdCET 2021 convener Prof. A Ramakrishna among other officials.
