Hyderabad: A fire broke out on Friday morning at a building in Shaikpet, and three persons who were trapped in it were rescued by firefighters. The fire broke out at around 5 am at the Dukes building in Shaikpet. On information, fire tenders from Langer Houz, Jubilee Hills and Madhapur fire stations rushed to the spot.
The fire started on the second floor of the building and spread to the top floor housing a medical centre and a coaching centre. “A lot of combustible material was kept in the building, and due to it, the fire spread rapidly.
Three people were trapped in the building and all of them were safely rescued by the firemen,” said District Fire Officer (Ranga Reddy), Shaik Khaja Karimulla.
The building had a thick glass façade, and the firemen had used a sludge hammer to break the glass and allow the smoke to exit. Five fire tenders were deployed to control the fire, and it took around three hours for the firefighters to control the blaze.
