Hyderabad: In a major drug seizure, the Narcotics Control Bureau on Monday intercepted a truck at the Pedda Amberpet Toll Plaza on the city outskirts and seized over 2,000 kilogrammes of marijuana, allegedly headed to Maharashtra. Four persons were arrested.
According to Amit Ghawate, Zonal Director (Bengaluru), NCB, the marijuana was hidden under loads of raw cashew nut shells in 1,080 packets, with each of the packet weighing around two kg. It was based on a tip off that a team of NCB officials from Bengaluru and Hyderabad intercepted the truck.
“The consignment was destined for Pune and Mumbai. Four persons K Kale, S Sale, C Kale and B Dhoralkar were apprehended in this connection,” Ghawate said, adding all the four suspects hailed from Maharashtra. The marijuana was seized under provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
