Khammam: The Vice-Chairman of the National Commission for BCs, Dr Lokesh Kumar Prajapathi and member Thalloju Achary held a meeting with district officials on the issue of evacuation of residents at Ramachandra Nagar, here on Wednesday.
The residents, who built houses on government land, were evacuated by the revenue officials some time ago and some of them have been rehabilitated. Around 30 families were yet to be rehabilitated.
The Commission Vice Chairman who held the meeting with District Collector VP Gautham and Commissioner of Police Vishnu S Warrier directed the district administration to rehabilitate the evacuees in the next fifteen days.
Later in the day, Prajapathi and Achary also visited Kothagudem and interacted with the families who were displaced by railway authorities during a demolition drive on July 27 following a court order. Nearly 120 houses were built on SCR lands near Kothagudem railway station.
Achary, speaking on the occasion, informed that the SCR DGM would be called for talks on the issue and the district administration was directed to submit a report on the issue in the fifteen days along with a copy of the court order and details of notices served to the residents.
