Hyderabad: Welcoming Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s suggestion to appoint former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as Vice President, BJP State president N Ramchander Rao on Friday said the Congress, at the same time, should appoint BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar or TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud as Chief Minister.
Speaking informally to media persons here, Ramchander Rao said Revanth Reddy’s proposal to elevate Dattatreya would be a matter of pride for the Telugu community.
“But at the same time, the Congress should elevate either Ponnam Prabhakar or Mahesh Kumar Goud as the Telangana Chief Minister to truly boost the self-respect of BCs,” he said.
He claimed that the BC community was firmly backing the BJP and said the Congress government’s decision to issue an ordinance on BC reservations only exposed its opportunistic politics. “The Chief Minister cannot be trusted anymore,” he remarked.
The BJP leader also made it clear that Telangana’s people did not want the saffron party to forge alliances in the next elections.
“The BJP will fight alone. There will be no alliance with the Telugu Desam Party,” he reportedly said, adding that he would not contest in the upcoming elections and would instead focus on strengthening the party in the State.
Ramchander Rao also came down heavily on HYDRAA, calling it a failed organisation. “As HYDRAA demolished poor people’s houses, the Congress too will be demolished in the State,” he declared.
