Hyderabad: Samantha Ruth Prabhu may have been looking dazzling as she is adorned with floral jewellery in the mythological film ‘Shaakuntalam’. But there is a flip side to the story. The first-look posters are enough to describe the opulence and grandeur of the film ‘Shaakuntalam’. The grapevine has it that the actor had to endure so much pain while sporting these ornaments. It’s a tough ask for Samantha to act in a mythological film of this scale after continuously playing a glam doll on the silver screen.
What makes the floral jewellery unique is that it was imported from Amsterdam, customised especially for Samantha, who is playing the queen in the film. Wearing these heavy accessories, Samantha had suffered skin rashes. However, the actor is learnt to have continued with the shooting despite the discomfort she had faced. The commitment shown by Samantha impressed the makers and technicians on the sets. The actor also shed a few kilos of weight to suit the character she is playing in the film. Samantha was styled by celebrity stylist Neethu Lulla for the film.
Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the movie is being presented by Dil Raju and bankrolled by Neelima Guna. The movie is under post-production stage. Mani Sharma is composing the music for the film. The ‘Family Man’ actor had to undergo physical transformation and had to attend a few workshop sessions to adopt the classical body language for her part.
