Sangareddy: A 9-year-old girl died in a tragic accident at her home in Chitkul village of Patancheru mandal after a makeshift swing she was playing with turned fatal.

The girl, identified as Sahasra, had tied a towel to a ceiling fan to use it as a swing during a power outage. Moments later, the electricity supply was restored, and the fan began rotating, causing the towel to tighten around her neck and strangle her.

Sahasra, daughter of Latha and Narsimhulu, was the middle child among three siblings. While the elder daughter studies at a residential school, Sahasra and her younger brother Ganishwar attend a local school. On Sunday, the parents had gone to visit their elder daughter.

Sahasra and Ganishwar were playing at home when the incident occurred. On noticing what had happened, Ganishwar alerted their grandmother and switched off the fan before removing the towel. However, Sahasra had already succumbed.
