Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police arrested a woman makeup artist on charges of stealing a gold chain at a cradle ceremony, police said here on Friday.
The suspect Zainab Begum (30), a resident of Yakutpura, who works as an assistant with Nishitha, a hair stylist accompanied the latter to a cradle ceremony of her friend T.Swapna’s child at a banquet hall in Malkajgiri last week.
Police said at the time of the photo session, Swapna handed over her bag to Zainab Begum. On reaching home after the event, Swapna realized a 4.5 tola gold chain was missing. She strongly suspected Zainab. Based on her complaint, the Malkajgiri police booked a case and detained Zainab Begum, who confessed to the crime.
The gold chain was recovered from her. She was produced before court.
