Hyderabad: It is the dream of every website and social media admin to make their videos or tweets go viral. But most of the time, it just does not happen. However, the Cyberabad Traffic Police are setting some trends, with their awareness videos on road safety breaking the internet, literally.
The latest lesson in the science of going viral from the CTP was a video, shared on the CTP’s Facebook page and tweeted from its official Twitter handle as well, of an intoxicated biker in Chevella. Shared with the intention of dissuading people from drinking and driving, the video, titled Krishna’s brave driving story, shows a biker near the Ibrahimpally Gate in Chevella.
Obviously drunk from the manner in which he is unable to drive steadily, the man has his helmet hanging from the mirror, dangerously getting on the road only to lose balance when another bike zooms past him. He falls down, manages to get up with help from another biker couple, and then, the saga continues.
The CTP social media team spices up the video with some funny music interspersed with Brahmanandam emojis, and shows the man driving zig zag on the road, forcing another car driver to go off the road, even as the drunk biker goes on to hit another car and fall down again.
The ‘Don’t drink and drive’ message video, just about 1.18 minutes long, garnered 162k views, was shared by over 700 people on Facebook and was equally popular on Twitter as well.
A few days earlier, another video shared to drive home a message against rash driving showed a goods trolley jam-packed with people driving too fast and stopping after the line at a toll plaza. This leads to the barrier at the toll gate coming down on the passengers, repeatedly smacking a couple of men on the head. Though none appeared to be injured, the video triggered laughs and went viral. Sharing the message that rash driving and travelling in goods vehicles can be dangerous, the video raked in 504k views, 6,740 shares and over 400 comments on Facebook.
There have been other videos, which went viral because of the shock factor too, like the Madhapur Audi accident video recently. The CTP, mixing in fun, comedy and shock in the right amounts, appears to be mastering the art of viral posts.
