Warangal: Prohibition and Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud has reiterated that the State government was striving to get UNESCO heritage tag to the historic Kakatiya Fort as well as the Thousand Pillar temple in Warangal. Goud also added that several steps were being taken to develop Warangal as a tourism and sports hub as it had already earned its name as the education hub.
Goud, who is also minister of Sports, Culture and Museums inspected the site identified for the construction of the Haritha Hotel by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) here opposite Ratna Hotel. East MLA N Narender, West MLA D Vinay Bhaskar, Warangal District Collector B Gopi, TSTDC MD B Manohar Rao and others accompanied him during the inspection.
Speaking on the occasion, Goud said, “We are planning to construct a Haritha Tourist Hotel and also a cultural complex in Warangal,” Later, he inaugurated the museum constructed with Rs 3 crore at Fort Warangal by the State Archaeology Department. West MLA Vinay Bhaskar said that Warangal was being developed on all fronts since the TRS came to power. “People can assess what kind of development was done previously, what kind of development is going now,” he added. East MLA Narender said there were some hurdles in development of Warangal East constituency, but he had managed to overcome them and got thousands of crores for the development with the blessings of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Earlier, Srinivas Goud has also inaugurated the Masters Athletics Championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Hanamkonda. The championship will conclude on Sunday. On the occasion, the Sports Minister has also felicitated veteran athletes Komuraiah (95) and Srinivas Reddy (90). MP Banda Prakash, Mayor G Sudharani, Sports Authority of Telangana State chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy, KUDA chairman S Sunder Raj, and others were present.
