Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police on Thursday arrested four persons who were allegedly selling spurious cotton seeds and seized 600 kilograms of the seeds from them.

The arrested are Chalivendula Raja Ram (42), Gosa Swamy Dasu (48), Anumula Malleshwariah (28) and Kandala Chinna Obulesu (45), all residents of Nandyala district in AP.

According to the police, the Special Operations Team (LB Nagar), along with the agriculture department and Hayathnagar police, caught the four persons while they were illegally transporting banned BT-3 cotton seeds from Nandyal to Hayathnagar.

The four suspects, along with one Ram Mohan Reddy, procured the fake BT-3 cotton seed in Andhra Pradesh and were selling it in Telangana for wrongful gain.

Efforts are on to nab Ram Mohan, who is absconding.
