Hyderabad: Post the blockbuster response of ‘Malli Raava’, Sumanth has come up with the latest OTT release titled ‘Malli Modalaindi’.

Director TG Keerthi Kumar, who earlier made his debut with a Tamil film in 2014, has helmed the Telugu film. “Telling the story of a divorced couple who fell in love is a very challenging one to tell on screen. It is a sensitive topic narrated in a very entertaining way. I narrated the script to actor Sumanth because I felt he best suits the character given his age. He felt the story was realistic,” he says.

The director says that the story is inspired from real events that happened with one of his friends. “Love after divorce – is something that has not been explored much. But a few characters like the lawyer in the film are just a touch up to bring it a cinematic appeal,” he says.

Keerthi Kumar says he had done a bit of research consulting divorced couples. Later, the director wanted the script to have comedy and less preachy rather than make a serious film.

“There is a risk involved in making such films. Because it won’t reach all sections of audiences. There’s no room for vulgarity. Family audiences too can watch. Initially it was planned for theatrical release however, we had to do away with the idea because of the third wave, and released it on Zee 5,” he added.

Produced by Rajasekhar Reddy on the banner ED Entertainments, the film has the music composed by Anup Rubens.
