Man arrested for smuggling PDS rice from Mancherial to Maharashtra

Motam Raju from Vidyanagar in Mandmarri was apprehended while he was illegally transporting the grains by the trolley to Maharashtra, during a vehicle check.

Mancherial: A person was arrested by sleuths of Ramagundam commissionerate’s task force team for allegedly smuggling rice meant for public distribution system (PDS) in Mandamarri on Tuesday. A trolley and 7 quintals of rice grains were seized from his possession.

In a statement, Ramagundam task force Inspector Raj Kumar said that Motam Raju from Vidyanagar in Mandmarri was apprehended while he was illegally transporting the grains by the trolley to Maharashtra, during a vehicle check. He was handed over to Mandamarri police for further action, while the rice was given to officials of the civil supplies department.


Sub-Inspector Lachanna and staffers of the team took part in the vehicle check.
