Man arrested in Warangal for sexually assaulting minor girl

The accused, who was identified as Pasunuri Ilaiah (55), a construction worker, allegedly raped the girl when the mother of the victim was away from home on Monday

Warangal: A 55-year-old man was arrested by the Geesugonda police for allegedly assaulting an eight-year-old girl sexually at Viswanathapuram village on Tuesday.

Mamnoor ACP A Naresh said the accused had been arrested and remanded under the POCSO Act on charges of raping the girl based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim. The accused, who was identified as Pasunuri Ilaiah (55), a construction worker, allegedly raped the girl when the mother of the victim was away from home on Monday.

The victim’s father died a few years ago, and she has been living with her mother, who ekes out a living as a daily wage labourer.
