Man booked for alleged sexual harassment on promise of film role
A man has been booked in Hyderabad for allegedly sexually harassing a young woman who approached him for film opportunities. The woman alleged that he misbehaved with her during a fake screen test. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
Hyderabad: A youth claiming to offer film opportunities has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a young woman, who had approached him with hopes of becoming an actor. A case has been registered at Film Nagar police station.
As per information available, the victim had recently arrived in Hyderabad to pursue a career in films and was staying with a female friend in a hostel on a sharing basis.
On February 18, the suspect, identified as GM Ravi, allegedly contacted her and promised to make her a heroine, asking her to meet him in Madhapur.
After the initial meeting, he allegedly asked her to visit an office located at Durga Bhavani Nagar for screen tests. The woman, accompanied by her friend, went to the office where Ravi allegedly called her into his room and behaved inappropriately under the guise of conducting an audition.
In her complaint, the victim stated that he touched her inappropriately and also misbehaved with her friend, claiming it was part of the screen test process. She alleged that he harassed her physically while assuring her of roles in films.
Police are investigating.
